Currants
Black currant and Jostaberry are easy to root from hardwood cuttings.
They are best planted in November or April in our climate. They require no rooting hormones or heat mats, just stick them in some nice weed free garden soil.
Varieties
Titania Black Currant- Highly productive reliable producer of good flavored berries. Plants reach full maturity by age 3. Resistant to white pine blister rust. Reaches 3-4 feet at maturity.
Freedom Black Currant- Extremely productive, very large berries, vigorous grower, and very good flavor. Of all the black currants we have trialed, this might be our most productive variety. Freedom is also resistant to wpbr. Reaches 3-4 feet at maturity
Jostaberry- This is a cross between black currants and gooseberries. The fruit is much more mild flavored and sweeter than a normal black currant. Plants are extremely vigorous with small beautiful flowers. Reaches 6 feet at maturity.
