Bee Balm (monarda didyma)

This member of the mint family grows to five feet high. It does spread, but not uncontrollably. The leaves smell wonderful and make a good tea. The variety we grow is a brilliant red in mid-summer. It is highly attractive to pollinators and to hummingbirds.

During the six weeks that our bee balm flowers, we have hummingbirds visiting all day. There is an incredible amount of activity and attraction to this plant both from people and a wide variety of pollinators
