Propagation workshop

Work trades and Scholarships available for those needing financial assistance.

 This hands on workshop will be jam packed with information on how to propagate your own fruit, nut, and timber trees, berry bushes, and perennials. The class will be led by Akiva Silver, owner and operator of Twisted Tree Farm and author of Trees of Power.

Akiva will cover:

Cuttings- how to root hardwood and softwood cuttings as well as root fragments

Layering- several different layering techniques including stool beds and air layering

Seeds- storage, stratification, scarification, germination techniques, and planting

Division- of perennials and shrubs

Grafting - topworking apples

Propagation infrastructure- make your own heat mats, mist system, air prune beds, mini hoop houses, and row cover setup.

Soil- how to maintain fertility and structure, making compost, making bio char, soil ecology

Plant specifics- covering tips and tricks for individual trees, shrubs, and perennials with specific needs
